How it works
How to use the UTM Generator
-
Paste the page URL
Enter the address of the page people should land on, with or without https://.
-
Fill in the campaign fields
Source, medium and campaign are the three that matter; pick a preset to fill the first two.
-
Copy the tagged link
Copy the finished URL, or shorten it so the long UTM string never shows.
What are UTM parameters?
UTM parameters are tags added to the end of a URL — utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content. Analytics tools read them when someone arrives, so the visit is credited to the right campaign instead of showing up as direct or referral traffic.
Which UTM parameters are required?
Google Analytics needs utm_source to attribute a visit; utm_medium and utm_campaign are strongly recommended so reports group traffic properly. utm_term and utm_content are optional and used for keywords and to tell apart ads or links in the same campaign.
Should UTM values be lowercase?
Yes. UTM values are case-sensitive, so “Facebook” and “facebook” show up as two different sources. This generator lowercases values and replaces spaces by default to keep your reports clean.
Do UTM parameters affect SEO?
No, as long as you use them on links you share in campaigns, not on your own internal links. Search engines treat tagged URLs as duplicates of the canonical page.
