Expiring and scheduled links

Give a link a start date, an expiry date or a click limit, and choose where visitors go once it is over.

Every plan, Free included, can limit when a link works. Open the link in the editor and use Schedule & expiry, or send the fields through the API.

The three limits

  • Works from (starts_at) — before this moment the link does not redirect. Visitors see a page saying the link is not active yet and when it opens.
  • Expires (expires_at) — from this moment the link stops redirecting.
  • Click limit (max_clicks) — the link stops after this many tracked clicks. The click that reaches the limit still goes through.

You can combine them, for example a launch link that opens on Monday, closes on Friday and stops after the first 500 visitors.

What visitors see afterwards

Without a fallback, an expired link shows a short This link has expired page with HTTP status 410 Gone, so search engines drop it. Before its start date it answers 404. Add a fallback URL (expired_url) to send visitors somewhere useful instead — a sold-out page, the next event, your homepage.

The same rules apply on custom domains and when the link is opened from a QR code. Expired visits are not recorded as clicks.

Times and time zones

The dashboard takes the dates in your own time zone and stores them in UTC. Through the API, send ISO 8601 such as 2026-12-31T23:59:00+01:00; a date without an offset is read as UTC.
