Links in email

Email link shortener for tidy, branded links

Letlink turns long, UTM-laden URLs into short, readable links on your own domain, so they look deliberate in plain-text emails, signatures and anywhere a reader sees the address.

Short answer

An email link shortener replaces long URLs inside emails with short, readable ones, which matters most in plain-text messages and signatures where the reader sees the address itself. Letlink puts those links on your own domain from Solo at $3.90 a month — news.yourbrand.com/march instead of a shared short domain — keeps the full UTM-tagged URL behind them, and tracks every click. The free plan works on letl.ink for 1,000 links.

Features

Why shorten the links in your emails

Your domain, your reputation

Shared short domains are used by many senders, and some spam filters weigh them accordingly. A hostname on your own domain carries only your history and tells readers who the link is from.

Readable back-halves

Choose the short code: /march-issue, /pricing, /book-a-call. Up to 20 letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, so the link says where it goes.

Long UTM links, kept out of sight

Put the full URL with utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign as the destination. The reader sees go.yourbrand.com/march; your analytics still receives every tag.

Plain-text emails

In plain text the URL is the link. A short one keeps lines from wrapping, reads well, and survives being copied and pasted.

Email signatures

A short link to your booking page or latest piece in every signature, which you can repoint whenever it changes — no need to update everyone’s signature.

Clicks counted as a bonus

Every click is recorded with time, country, device and browser, so the signature link and the newsletter link both report how often they are used.

Use cases

Where people shorten email links

Plain-text newsletters

Short, readable links that look intentional in a text-only issue instead of a wall of query strings.

Personal sales emails

A link like go.yourco.com/demo reads as a person writing, not a marketing system.

Team signatures

One signature link for the whole team that you point at the current campaign, webinar or careers page.

Support replies

Short links to help articles that agents can type from memory and customers can trust.

Step by step

How to shorten a link for an email

  1. Add your domain

On Solo or above, create a CNAME for a subdomain such as go.yourbrand.com pointing at custom.letl.ink and add it under Integrations → Custom Domain. On Free, links use letl.ink.

  2. Paste the full URL

Choose Create link and paste the destination with all its UTM tags. Select your domain.

  3. Choose a readable short code

Type a back-half that says where the link goes — march-issue, pricing — and save.

  4. Use it in the email

Copy the short link into your email, plain-text version or signature, and click it once from a test send to confirm it lands where you expect.

FAQ

Email link shortener: questions and answers

Anything else? Talk to us — or read the help center.

What is an email link shortener?

An email link shortener replaces the long URLs in your emails with short ones that redirect to the original. Letlink lets you choose a readable back-half, run the link on your own domain from Solo at $3.90 a month, and track every click. The free plan covers 1,000 links on letl.ink.

Do short links hurt email deliverability?

Short links on shared shortener domains can, because those domains are used by many senders, including some spammers, and filters take that into account. A short link on a domain you own does not carry anyone else’s history. Use a subdomain of your sending domain or a short domain you control.

Does my email platform rewrite short links?

If click tracking is turned on in your email platform, it usually wraps every link — short or long — in its own tracking redirect. The reader then sees your short link as the text but passes through both redirects. If you only want Letlink’s counting, turn the platform’s click tracking off for that send; if you keep both, each records its own clicks.

Should I shorten links in HTML emails too?

In HTML emails the URL usually hides behind a button or text, so shortening matters less for looks — but it still gives you one link you can repoint after sending and click counts that sit alongside your other channels. In plain-text emails and signatures, where the address is visible, a short readable link matters most.

What happens to UTM tags on a shortened link?

Yes. Tags already in the destination URL reach your site and analytics untouched; the short link only hides them from the reader. A Letlink Link with UTM also stores source, medium and campaign on the link for its own reports and adds them to the destination URL on every redirect.

Can I use an email link shortener for free?

Yes. The free plan gives you 1,000 links on letl.ink with custom back-halves and 1,000 tracked clicks a month. A custom domain starts on Solo at $3.90 a month, or $37.44 a year.
