Affiliate tracking

Affiliate link tracker with click IDs, postbacks and revenue

Letlink gives every click on your affiliate links its own click ID, takes the network’s postback when that click converts, and shows revenue, EPC and ROAS for each link and campaign.

Short answer

An affiliate link tracker records clicks on affiliate links and matches the commissions a network reports back to the click that earned them. Letlink gives every recorded click a unique click ID, passes it to the offer as lk_click, subid or a click ID token in the destination URL, and accepts conversions by server-to-server postback, a JavaScript snippet or the API, with last-click attribution inside a 30-day window you can set from 1 to 365 days. Conversion tracking, revenue reports and campaigns are on Solo at $3.90 a month and above.

Features

What an affiliate needs from a link tracker

A click ID on every click

Turn on Append click ID and visitors arrive at the offer with ?lk_click=… — or rename the parameter to subid or clickid, as many networks expect.

Destination tokens

Place tokens for the click ID, short code, country, device and the five UTM values in the destination URL yourself, and Letlink fills them in on each redirect — for networks that want the ID in a specific sub-ID slot.

Server-to-server postbacks

Networks call /postback with the click ID, event, amount, currency and transaction ID. The common names are recognised — subid, aff_sub, payout, txid — and a postback key refuses calls without it.

Pending, approved, declined, refunded

Report a sale as pending and approve or decline it later with the same transaction ID. A negative amount or refunded status is a refund, and each conversion is counted once per click, event and transaction.

Revenue, EPC and ROAS

The Conversions page and each link’s stats show conversions, conversion rate, revenue, earnings per click, ROAS, ROI, net profit and cost per conversion. Amounts stay in the currency they were reported in, never converted.

Campaigns with ad spend

Group the links of one promotion into a campaign, record its ad spend in one or more currencies, and read clicks, conversions, revenue and profit for the whole campaign.

Split tests between offers

Spread one link across up to 8 weighted destinations and see each one’s share of clicks. Revenue is reported per link and campaign, not per variation, so use separate links when you need each offer’s EPC.

Bots kept out of the numbers

Block bots is on by default, so crawlers are refused and never get a click ID. Clicks past your plan’s monthly allowance are not recorded either, so they cannot be attributed.

Use cases

Who tracks affiliate links with Letlink

Bloggers and review sites

One short link per product mention, so the stats page shows which article and which placement actually earned the commission.

Creators with sponsor codes

A branded link per sponsor in video descriptions and posts, with the sponsor’s postback filling in sales against each one.

Media buyers

A campaign per offer with its ad spend recorded, so ROAS and net profit come out of the same report as the clicks.

Networks and in-house programmes

Conversions from your own shop through the snippet on the thank-you page, or from your backend through POST /api/v1/conversions on Growth.

Step by step

How to track affiliate conversions with postbacks

  1. Create the affiliate link

On Solo or above, create a link to the offer and turn on Append click ID, or put the click ID token into the sub-ID slot of the offer URL yourself.

  2. Set a postback key

On the Conversions page, open the conversion settings, rename the click ID parameter if your network needs subid or clickid, and set a postback key.

  3. Give the network your postback URL

In the network’s postback settings, enter https://letl.ink/postback with click_id, event, amount, txid and key parameters, filling each with the network’s own macro for the sub-ID, payout and transaction.

  4. Read the revenue

Open the Conversions page or the link’s stats for revenue, EPC and ROAS, put the links in a campaign with its ad spend, and export CSV for your records.

FAQ

Affiliate link tracker: questions and answers

Anything else? Talk to us — or read the help center.

What is an affiliate link tracker?

An affiliate link tracker records each click on an affiliate link and matches the commissions a network reports back to the click that earned them, so you can see which link, post or campaign makes money. Letlink does it with a unique click ID per click and server-to-server postbacks, from the Solo plan at $3.90 a month.

How do postbacks work in Letlink?

Your network calls https://letl.ink/postback with GET or POST when a sale or lead happens, passing the click ID it received, the event, the amount, the currency and a transaction ID. Letlink records the conversion against that click, deduplicates repeats, and always answers 200 with a result such as created, duplicate or unknown_click, so networks have no reason to retry.

Does Letlink calculate EPC and ROAS?

Yes. EPC is revenue divided by clicks; ROAS is revenue divided by the ad spend recorded on a campaign, with ROI, net profit and cost per conversion alongside. Revenue counts approved conversions minus refunds, and pending or declined ones are shown apart. Amounts stay in the currency they were reported in.

How long after a click does a conversion count?

30 days by default. You can set the attribution window anywhere from 1 to 365 days; a postback for an older click is answered outside_window and not recorded. Attribution is last click, so the most recent click ID wins.

Can I split-test two offers behind one link?

Yes, a split test sends weighted shares of traffic to up to 8 destinations and shows each one’s share of clicks, on every plan. Revenue is reported per link and per campaign, not per variation, so when you need each offer’s EPC side by side, give each offer its own link and group them in one campaign.

Can I send conversions to Meta or TikTok?

Yes, on Growth at $8.90 a month and Ultimate. Switch on Forward approved conversions and they go as purchase, lead and sign-up events to the Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat and Reddit Conversions APIs you have connected, matched to the original ad click.
