Which send worked
Give each newsletter, sequence step or one-off email its own UTM campaign, and compare them side by side in analytics.
How-to
Every email client and sending platform lets you put a link behind text or a button. Make that link a Letlink short link and every click on it is recorded — no add-on, no plugin, no change to how you send.
Short answer
To track clicks in email, put a tracked short link in the message instead of the plain URL: each click passes through the short link, which records it and sends the reader on. With Letlink you create one Link with UTM per send or campaign, paste it into any email client or email platform, and read clicks by country, device, hour and campaign on the link’s stats page. The free plan covers 1,000 links and 1,000 tracked clicks a month; Solo at $3.90 adds your own domain and Slack or Telegram alerts. Letlink tracks clicks, not opens.
Features
Give each newsletter, sequence step or one-off email its own UTM campaign, and compare them side by side in analytics.
The When people click card names the busiest hour and weekday for a link, which tells you when to schedule the next send.
Device type, operating system and browser for every click, so you know whether the destination page must work well on a phone first.
Country for every click, worked out from the IP address, never from GPS.
Unique visitors are counted per device, so one reader clicking five times is not reported as five readers.
On Solo, a Slack, Teams, Google Chat, Discord or Telegram message on every recorded click — useful for a proposal or a reply you are waiting on.
Bots and crawlers are never counted as clicks, and with Block bots on — the default — common automated clients get a 403 instead of the destination.
Use cases
One tagged link per issue and per main call to action, so you can see which story readers actually followed.
A link per recipient to a proposal, a calendar page or a case study, with an alert the moment it is opened.
A short link to your booking page or portfolio in the signature, counted across every email you send.
Links in receipts, onboarding and release notes, compared by campaign on the same dashboard.
In the Letlink link builder choose Link with UTM, paste the destination, and set source, medium and campaign — for example newsletter, email and may-issue. Optionally type a readable back-half.
Save and copy the short URL. Open it once in a private window to check it lands where it should.
In your email client or sending platform, select the link text or button and paste the short URL as its address, using the client’s normal insert-link control.
Send a test, click the link, and check the click appears on the link’s stats page. Your own test click counts like any other.
After the send, open the link’s stats page for clicks over time, by country, device, hour and traffic channel, or download them as CSV.

Replace the plain URL in the email with a tracked short link. With Letlink, create a Link with UTM for the send, paste the short URL behind the link text or button in your email client or platform, and every click is recorded with country, device, browser and time before the reader reaches the page. The free plan covers 1,000 tracked clicks a month.
No. Letlink records clicks on links, not email opens; it adds nothing to the email itself. If the reader opened the email but did not click, nothing is recorded. A click is the stronger signal anyway, because it means the reader acted on the message.
Some mail systems, such as Microsoft Defender Safe Links, check links in incoming email on the recipient’s behalf. Letlink never counts bots and crawlers as tracked clicks, and with Block bots on — the default on every plan — common automated clients receive a 403 instead of being redirected.
Many email apps send no referrer when a link is opened, and a click without a referrer counts as Direct. Webmail often does send one and appears under Email & messaging. That is why the UTM source and medium on the link matter: they label the click as email whatever the app sends.
Yes. Any platform that lets you set a link’s address accepts a Letlink short link. If the platform also tracks clicks, it may wrap your link in its own redirect; the reader still passes through your short link, so both tools record the click.
Letlink records what clicked, not who. To know which recipient opened a link, give each recipient their own short link — practical for sales emails and small lists — and turn on Slack or Telegram alerts from Solo.
